- Sept 24th – Brian Hallworth, ‘EVERY TIME I PASS A CHURCH”
“From mighty cathedral to tiny chapel, their history and
beauty is something to behold”. A forerunner to our exhibition in October on the churches of Denton.
- October 19th/20th – Exhibition “THE HISTORY OF THE CHURCHES OF DENTON”
- October 22nd – Martin Ford, “TITANIC”
An illustrated talk about the building of that ship, a modern day look around the Titanic Museum in Belfast, the Harland and Wolf shipyard, and the story of some of the lesser
known facts that contributed to the infamous sinking, apart from the iceberg, and more.
- November 26th – Alan Kibble,” THE REINVESTIGATION OF THE MOORS MURDERS”
A talk
by a retired police officer explaining the why’s and wherefore’s of the reinvestigation.
- December 3rd Christmas Social, starts at 7PM

- February 25th – Allan Arrowsmith, “REPORTER PICTORIAL 1929 TO 1938”

- March 25th – Claire Robinson, “ I’VE SEEN IT IN BLACK AND WHITE”,
Cultural life and
events in Manchester 1887-88, including the Grand Jubilee Exhibition, the first visit of
Buffalo Bill, sport, dialect & more. ( Claire is Joyce Robinson’s daughter, she has
previously given us a talk on Pantomimes ).
- April 22nd – ( provisional ) VISIT TO A PLACE OF INTEREST,
usually held in May, this event
will be brought forward because of the 80th anniversary of the end of WW2, see below.
- May 27th – Lynne Quirk, “THE DENTON BOMBINGS”
- June 24th – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
- July 8th – SOCIAL EVENT/QUIZ/SUPPER etc, to end the year. Our version of ‘The Proms’.
